Atlanta Braves Fan Falls to Death While at Braves Game.

An Atlanta Braves fan, Ronald Lee Homer, Jr., fell to his death while attending an Atlanta Braves game at Turner Field, the Braves home stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, on August 12, 2013. Homer was reportedly standing next to a 42-inch railing on the fourth level, waiting out a rain-delay, when he fell 85 feet into a parking lot below.

Atlanta police indicate that the cause of the man’s fall remains unknown. Nevertheless, foul play is not suspected at this time. Toxicology tests are pending at this time and it appears that the fan died from the personal injuries sustained in the fall.

The fall was the second fatal one by a fan at Turner Field. In May 2008, a 25 year-old Georgia man died after falling down a stairwell. Meanwhile, two other people fell in the past year at the Georgia Dome, the city’s pro football stadium. One was fatal; the other was not. Such incidents have raised concerns that Turner Field and other similar stadiums around the world should be built or designed to prevent such falls.
