Illinois Hospital Sued in Slip and Fall Case.

Kimberly Mangrum is a housekeeper employed by Crothell Healthcare, Inc. On December 23, 2013, Ms. Mangrum was contracted through St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton, Illinois. During that employment, she slipped and fell in a puddle of  liquid on the cafeteria floor.

Ms. Mangrum’s lawsuit alleges that the hospital owed her a duty of care to keep all floors and walkways in a safe condition and free from liquids. She allegedly suffered severe, permanent injuries, including a chondromalacia of the weight bearing surface of the medial femoral condyle and a chondro flap of the lateral tibial plateu. She also had torn medial and lateral menisci of her right knee.

Ms. Mangrum claims her medical bills have cost her a lot of money. She further alleges she will have medical bills throughout her life due to her injuries. She is seeking $50,000, plus lawyer’s fees and costs. Ms. Mangrum is being represented by Keith Short and Zachary Pashea.

St. Anthony’s Health Center has responded to the complaint, saying it was the plaintiff’s own negligence that was the cause of her injuries. She also allegedly did not seek immediate medical care for her injuries. By not seeking proper care, she is said to have been contributory negligent.
