Cameron Thurley, star of the Tasmanian football club, the Clarence Roos, is in a coma after falling down a flight of twelve stairs on Saturday, October 4, 2013.
Doctors at the Royal Hobart Hospital in Hobart, Tasmania induced the coma to help them treat Thurley, who suffered the slip and fall accident while leaving a bar in the early morning hours after celebrating a win with his teammates.
Closed circuit television showed Thurley, 32, walking with his hands in his pockets before slipping and tumbling down the stairs. Thurley was unable to get his hands out of his pockets to break his fall. Authorities have ruled out any foul play based upon the CCTV video.
Thurley presently remains in serious but stable condition. Doctors have already operated once to remove pressure and fluid from around Thurley’s brain, but say that he has already survived the first 24-hours, which is the most crucial period.
