Tenant Recovers $255,000 After Slip And Fall On Landlord’s Driveway.

A Staten Island man fractured his ankle when he slipped on ice covering his landlord’s driveway after he attempted to drop off that month’s rent check.

Mario Metry fractured his ankle on January 31, 2011, when he attempted to deliver a rent check to his landlord and neighbor. Ice covered the driveway and caused the 31-year-old man to slip and fall. It was later discovered that a leaking drain pipe was to blame for the icy conditions.

According to Metry’s lawyer, first-aid emergency-service personnel had to spread salt on the ground before they could retrieve Metry and remove him from the scene for medical treatment. Three years after the injury, Metry’s claim has finally been settled. He will collect $255,000 in damages for his injuries.
